Rudolf OTTÓFI is a land surveyor, M.Sc., professor of Surveying and Mapping and GIS. He is a member of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Institute of Built Environment, Department of Transport Infrastructure and Municipal Engineering at the Széchenyi István University. He has 31 years teaching experience in surveying, 10 years in teaching GIS and 10 years in development and organization of open, distance learning professional courses. He is the leader of North-Transdanubian Regional Distance Education Centre.

R. OTTÓFI has over twenty published papers on surveying, GIS and various aspects and lecturer of conferences on GIS, Open and Distance learning. He is a member of the National Committee of Hungarian Society of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing. He was coordinator of projects PHARE PMU HU-94.05 0201-L016/09 Streghtening the links between education and the economy, APERTUS TO11-C0018. He is the Hungarian coordinator of projects Leonardo EURO H-2000 RO/00/B/F/PP-141043 and Leonardo da Vinci Project A/03/B/F/PP-158.027 EQM-PD.

R. OTTÓFI is chairman in the Section Győr of Hungarian Society of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing. member of Academic Committee Veszprém, member of National Council for Distance Education, member of Committee for Prevention of Traffic Accident in County Győr-Moson-Sopron.
