Eszter Hóna has a geographer
and cartographer degree and she has been working in the field of the regional
planning for more than 30 years. She started her career at VÁTI, which is
the greatest institute of regional planning in Hungary. Since 1992 she has
had her own planning and advisory company.
Beside the usual regional planning, she always stressed the strengthening
of the connection among geodesy, cartography and planning.
She dealt with the adoption of remote sensing in regional planning, with providing
professional information on geoinformatics, with the establishment of land
management on a regional development base and with the methodological questions
on the impact case study (EIA SEA) of sustainable regional development.
She has been the Hungarian representative of the Committee FIG 8 since 1990.
She read lectures at several congresses and conferences, in the 90s she insisted
on the transfer of experiments of well-developed countries to the East-European
